WHICH IS THE BEST FLOORING FOR YOU AND THEM
Carpets, LVT or Laminate? by Phoenix Flooring Limited
Laminate Flooring is good for pet owners, but not so good for their pets. Laminate is tough, and resists scratches and splashes, but the hard surface doesn’t offer enough grip for your pets paws. So if your pet gets excited – you would see them sliding around. Laminate is fine in areas that your pets will not be spending majority of their time, but experts recommend against using it throughout the house.
Carpets are a popular choice with pet owners because of the non slip surface as pets will not hurt themselves whilst playing, it is also warm and comfortable for them to walk and lay on, plus carpets absorb sounds.
Carpet Choice – It is important to select a carpet that is made from durable and stain resistance material. Most manufacturers now make carpets that are bleach cleanable. A patterned carpet will hide daily wear and tear. Carpets made from nylon fibres with a cut pile are a good choice and can be very affordable.
Vacuum and clean regularly – All carpets should be vacuumed regularly to prolong with life, but this is very important in homes that have pets. If your pet sheds it’s fur it is a good idea to vacuum as often as possible. It’s amazing what your pet can bring in from the outside and do they ever wipe their feet! This means carpets get dirty quickly.
Clean up accidents as quickly as possible – Should you unfortunately have to clean up any accidents – rinse the area with clean cool water, then remove as much excess as possible by blotting with a paper towel – do not rub. Once the carpet is fully clean and dry, use a pet odour neutraliser.
Door mats – We recommend having a mat at each entrance your pet uses to catch some of the wet and dirt that they may bring in from outdoors.
